Jane Campion, the Academy Award Winning Author Filmmaker for the Movie "The Piano", will be the Guest of Honor at the Abroad Writers' Conference, June 23-30, 2006

In June, there will be a Film Retrospective of Jane Campion's work. Jane will be joined by several International authors, producers and agents, including the Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom, Andrew Motion; Booker Prize winner for "The English Patient", Michael Ondaatje; and two National Book Award Finalists, Dan Chaon and Alan Lightman.

(PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- In Saint Maximin la Sainte Baume, France, June 23-30, 2006, Academy Award Winning filmmaker, Jane Campion, will be the guest of honor at the Abroad Writers' Conference. During that week, there will be a nightly showning of one or two of Jane's films. Films being shown that week are: "The Piano", with Holly Hunter; the documentary of, "A Portrait of A Lady", with Nicole Kidman; "An Angel at My Table", and several rarely seen short films. In addition, there will be a special showing of her latest, never released film, "Water." This film will be completed in 2006, and viewed first at the Abroad Writers' Conference.

The Abroad Writers' Conference, will be held at the ancient Royal Convent at the Basilica of Saint Maximin la Sainte Baume, in France. The Basiclica has been classified a historical landmark since 1279, when relics and the tomb of Maria Magdalena was discovered.

Within the cloistered walls of the Basiclica, for one week, a group of participants will be able to socialize with authors, producers, agents, filmmakers and Jane Campion. Daily lectures, readings, book signings and actors will be performing one act plays. In addition, for those who are interested, morning and afternoon writing workshops are available. Classes will be taught by award winning authors. Writing workshops available in screenwriting, fiction and poetry.

Authors and participants will be housed in the ancient convent and served four course meals prepared by chef Philippe Hodina, along with French wine. To finalize that week, a special medieval dinner will be served along with music and performers.
