Independent Film Fans Can Profit From New Release

Grass roots film distribution allows public an opportunity to share in the profits from “Custody.”

Akron, OH (PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- “The best advertising has always been word of mouth” says filmmaker, Eric Stuyvesant, “but getting people to talk is a different story. So, we’ve set up a program that allows independent movie lovers the opportunity to share in the profits of our success.”

By using merchandising giveaways and profit incentives, combined with street teams and house parties, Lucid Vision Entertainment will capitalize on the home entertainment market through non-traditional distribution means. Street team participants will have the opportunity to work together to perform tasks that build public awareness, not only about the movie, Custody, but also about the struggles of single parents. The advent of the House Party is a direct result of the recent slump in box office numbers. “In today’s market, it no longer makes sense to book theaters” adds Stuyvesant, “any given night you may find 5 people packed into a 200 seat cinema. A House Party allows us an affordable alternative.” Costly film prints are replaced with inexpensive DVDs, and word of mouth replaces expensive marketing campaigns. “By keeping the overhead low we’re able to reinvest in the fan base that invests in us,” says co-director, Scott Wachtel. “We’re able to get them the bumper stickers, the T-shirts, and the high resolution artwork that helps them help us."

House Parties have been an effective marketing solution for films like The Corporation, and Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price. Street Teams have been effectively used by musicians for years. “We’re just combining two proven strategies to raise public awareness,” says Stuyvesant

Custody is a romantic dramady that chronicles the adventures of single parenting. The film features the work of Mary Faktor (American Splendor), Rick Montgomery (Christmas at Maxwell’s) and Dominic Koulianos (Inspector Gadget). It also introduces newcomers, Marisa Tomasic, Zachary Semelsberger and The Stuyvesant Boys.
