KnowledgeStorm Releases Results of Holiday Poll

Over 4,400 respondents share their thoughts on their holiday wish lists, holiday vacation time and gift giving at the office.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 14, 2005 -- KnowledgeStorm, the Internet’s top-ranked search resource for technology solutions and information, today announced the results of its survey, All I want for the holidays this year is… KnowledgeStorm recently conducted a holiday survey of its opt-in community of business and technology professionals, gaining insight into technology buyers’ attitudes and behaviors about their holiday wish lists, time off from work during the holiday season and gift giving in the workplace.

“It’s always fun this time of year to find out what our peers are most interested in for gifts as well as how much time they plan to take off, and if they are planning to exchange gifts with co-workers,” says Laurie Hood, vice president of marketing, KnowledgeStorm. “We decided it would be interesting to poll our opt-in community to discover whether there were any trends in how business and technology professionals, no matter what sized company they come from or what their job title is, feel about the holiday season.”

Over 4,400 professionals responded to the survey, representing a wide variety of job titles, industries and company sizes, sharing their thoughts on everything from what’s on top of the wish list this year to what they thought of the gift they got from their bosses last year.

Here are some highlights from the findings:

  • Technology buyers are always sizing up the latest personal tech gadgets
  • 72% of respondents claimed that “Yes, I always have my eye on something.”
  • Personal tech gadgets made a lot of wish lists this year
  • 31% of respondents expect that they will receive a tech gadget as a gift this year, while almost 44% responded that they will most likely end up buying one for themselves.
  • The iPod effect continues
  • The newest iPod was the most submitted answer (46%) to the question of “what do you think is the best new gadget available this holiday season?”
  • Technology buyers dictate their own holiday vacation plans
  • Personal work loads and family travel plans account for 79% of respondents’ vacation planning this holiday season.
  • Most major projects and decisions will be completed before employees leave for the holidays
  • An overwhelming 90% of respondents claim that, before they leave for their holiday vacations, they will try to get all major decisions and projects completed so they can relax during their days off.
  • Tech buyers do not expect a gift from their boss this year
The majority of respondents (53%) said that gift giving at the office is a nice gesture but do not expect anything.
