Kevin Epps, Acclaimed Filmmaker Documentary about Stanley 'Tookie' Williams Is now Airing on Al Gore's Current TV

"Don't Kill Tookie" is now airing hourly on Current TV, a new, independent cable and satellite TV network, available in 20 million homes around the United States -- and growing. (2003) Pan African Film Festival for creating "Straight Outta Hunters Point (SOHP)" (2003) an award-winning film that garnered critical acclaim and launched Epps into the spotlight.

(PRWEB) December 15, 2005 -- "Don't Kill Tookie"(7min) directed/produced by Kevin Epps, is about Stanley "Tookie" Williams, co-founder of the Notorious Los Angeles gang, The Crips. Convicted of 4 murders for 1981 robberies and sentenced to death. From Deathrow he denounced gang life, wrote anti-gang and children books, was nominated six times for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was executed by lethal injection December 13th at San Quentin's States Prison Deathrow.

"Don't Kill Tookie" is now airing hourly on Current TV, a new, independent cable and satellite TV network, available in 20 million homes around the United States-- and growing. Called viewer-created content, or VC2, and it's created in the Current Studio, an online extension of our real studios. Joel Hyatt is the chief executive of Current TV, a 24-hour cable network based in San Francisco that he established this year with former Vice President Al Gore, who serves as chairman.

Epps who recently received "Favorite Independent Filmmaker of the Year Award" 2005 at the Northern California Film Production Community had this to say about the recent partnership with Current TV. "This is a great opportunity for me as an independent media maker to have access to 20 million viewer hourly to see my work and hear my voice, about a very important, relevant and current story. This is the digital revolution and I'm a part of it.

Epps who has received many accolades including Best Documentary Award
(2003) Pan African Film Festival for creating "Straight Outta Hunters Point (SOHP)" (2003) an award-winning film that garnered critical acclaim and launched Epps into the spotlight.

SOHP has been described as "a raw uncompromising film about the evolution of a black culture dealing with very complex social, economic, environmental and gang-related violence issues. SOHP screened globally in film festivals and went on to open in theatres in select cities across country.

Mastamind Productions, LLC. www.mastamind.com, the company Epps founded has gone on to direct Rap Dreams, a film about upcoming rappers, is slated for release in 2006, "The Black Rock" is a documentary film about the untold story of the African-American experience at Alcatraz
