Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo Selected as Sanctioned Super Bowl Event

National, Sharon DuMas-Pugh, founder and president of Full & Fabulous, has been selected by the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee to add her Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo as one of the Super Bowl XL sanctioned events.

National, Sharon DuMas-Pugh, founder and president of Full & Fabulous, has been selected by the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee to add her Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo as one of the Super Bowl XL sanctioned events.

The Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo is among a few prominent Metro Detroit area businesses and organizations approved as an officially sanctioned event of the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee. These events are positioned to allow local residents to participate on Super Bowl events and provide entertainment and event opportunities for visitors. This event takes place February 2nd, 3rd & 4th, in conjunction with other Super Bowl XL events around the city, the Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo will be held at Martin Luther King High School 33200 Lafayette, in the city of Detroit.

This year's Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo will feature Star Jones of "The View", on ABC, as the keynote speaker, Dominique Dawes, Olympic Gold Medalist and, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, regarded as the best all-around female athlete in the world, are special invited guest along with Former President Bill Clinton, who will receive the "Urban Solutions Image Award", for his great work in the community and his new Childhood Obesity Initiative. The expo is also pleased to include spokespeople and educators from The American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, and The American Cancer Society, who will be on hand to answer questions about health disparities related to obesity.

The expo is designed to promote and educate the community on health and self-esteem issues that effect America at large and in particular women of all ages and sizes who want to reach their fullest potential. As an organization selected and sanctioned by the Super Bowl XL Host Committee, the Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo's information will be printed in over 100,000 Super Bowl XL event guides. The guides will be distributed in all airports, hotels and every one who attends the SBXL in Detroit.

Events will kick-off with an Expo Pre-Reception on Thursday, February 2, 2006. VIP guests, national media, community leaders and concerned citizens of Detroit will be present to meet, network and discuss strategies and solutions for the war on obesity and tackling issues around building self-esteem and promoting health and fitness in women, children and senior citizens, across the country. Tickets for this reception will be available for $50.00 per person.

On Friday, February 3, there will be a very special event for plus size girls ages 9 - 17 called “A Rose is Still A Rose Plus Size Debutante Ball.” This event will give girls the opportunity to arrive and be recognized and introduced to the community for their excellence, talents and beauty as young women and celebrate their weight loss and new self-image after 6 weeks of training in self-esteem, nutrition behavior modification and physical activity. All adults with girls and young women in their lives are encouraged to take this opportunity to send those young ladies to an enriching event that they will never forget. This event will be held at Martin Luther King High School, 3200 E. Lafayette, Detroit, Michigan. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors & children with school ID, under the age of 18, and free for children 4 and under.

On Saturday, February 4, 2006, the Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem Expo will be held. This event will provide key resources and valuable information for Women's Empowerment and practical solutions for the war on obesity. The HBSEE will also feature an opportunity for attendees to network, attend seminars and workshops, speaker forums and book signings. Meet and have books signed by Star Jones Reynolds, Stand for Something or You’ll Fall for Anything” and the Power Sources from 100 Words of Wisdom: A 31 Day Exercise in Empowerment. It will be held at Martin Luther King High School, 3200 E. Lafayette, Detroit, Michigan Tickets cost $20.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors & children with school ID, under the age of 18, and free for children 4 and under.

The VIP event on February 4th will be the Star Jones Reynolds Brunch. This will be a private brunch held in honor of Mrs. Star Jones-Reynolds. The cost for this event is $100.00 per ticket and will include her book, also held at Martin Luther King High School.

On February 4th the Urban Solutions Image Awards will be given to national and local people for their work in the community. During the Awards ceremony, The Full & Fabulous Fashion Fair Extravaganza (a fast paced fashion show) will feature fashion-savvy plus size women and men celebrating self-esteem, style, and excellence. The fashion show will be held at Martin Luther King High School and all tickets are $25.00 per person.

Full & Fabulous, National Association of Full Figured Teens and Urban Solutions are long standing organizations that have worked in the area of Health, Beauty & Self-Esteem for plus size women and teens since 1982. The founder and President Sharon DuMas-Pugh was selected by Governor Jennifer Granholm as one of Michigan's Home Town Health Hero’s for her work in the area of obesity solutions for children in 2004.
