CW3 Web Hosting Develops an Email Script That Stops Form Mail Hijacking

CW3 Web Hosting develops CW3 Form Mail, A Free Email Script which blocks Email Hijacking attempts and is easy to install.

(PRWEB) December 16, 2005 -- Email Form Hijacking will be the biggest problem in the upcoming years. We can expect Spam to hit all time records as those that are sending these emails can now do it with total immunity. Many of these abusers are finding out that they only need to find a Website which has an email form on the contact us page.
There are millions of Websites with such forms on the Web so finding one will not be difficult. A quick search in any popular search engine will return millions of results.

I searched Google for 'contact us' and came back with 4,820,000,000.
After a person that wishes to send a spam email out finds a suitable website that has the basic email form he or she will use it. How it's done is simple! They just send email header info with their list of send addresses into the form input boxes. The website owner has no clue this took place until a complaint is filed or his Website is taken off line due to exceeding the transfer Quota. Having signed up With AOL's Feedback Loop http://postmaster.info.aol.com which sends us copies of spam emails received by AOL users and seeing actual email abuse messages we have found that even a simple HTML form is prone to abuse.

To compile this problem even further, thousands of popular web applications have email forms. Some are only visible to registered users which does not stop the Spammer. Each of these applications need to be patched to prevent this email abuse.

We see this as a serious problem which prompted us to come up with a quick solution. The script was written in PHP to block those that wish to send Spam email using email forms in use by many websites. For choosing a method for this script we wanted it to be user friendly by not blocking common used terms or characters. The method chosen to do this was to block only that which are abuse attempts.

We also test to see if the mail is being sent by the website owner's mail form to prevent automated scripts being used. A setting can be set to email the website owner an abuse attempt has taken place which contains the IP address of the abuser. Testing on several sites shows it works extremely well. In addition to being user friendly the email received by the website owner is not altered as to be hard to read.

An easy install makes it painless to replace the current mail form or script which is prone to abuse. One only needs to upload the setup and mail script files to the website and fill in the proper info in the setup screen. The setup is extremely flexible and will generate the form and message pages to a location the user chooses. Those with limited experience should have very little trouble using the script. For those that want custom forms the script supports any type of form one can create.

The script is free and offered at http://www.netbizcity.net/mail_script
Or can be found by searching 'email abuse' at HotScripts.com http://www.hotscripts.com

We created this as our way of contributing to the internet in a positive way. To make the internet safer and helping to solve a Spam problem which hurts everyone. We hope those that have popular programs will follow our lead and put out patches quickly to prevent this problem.
