Smucker to Bring GPS Heads Up Display Technology to the Farm
SportVue Heads Up technology will now combine with Smucker GPS to create new products for agricultural applications.
(PRWEB) December 16, 2005 -- Smucker Manufacturing, an industry leader for agricultural guidance systems, is teaming up with Heads Up Display (HUD) pioneers at Motion Research Corporation to create the first-ever HUD guidance systems for agricultural applications.
Together with Motion Research, Smucker is developing the new product, integrating SportVue PRO™ Heads Up technology with the Hemisphere GPS system. The new product will be available in 2006, and will be marketed as the AgriVue™ Heads Up Display for Smucker’s LandMark II ™ GPS guidance systems. The wireless AgriVue™ display system will be mounted on soft hats to give the farmer or tractor operator a constant real-time view of critical navigational information. The data appears in a personal display in the wearer’s periphery, focused at task length. This technology frees the operator from distracting glances at the light bar displays on current guidance systems. It transmits critical data in low and bright light, and is perfect for noisy environments. More importantly, it is more lightweight, compact, and affordable compared to current light bar displays.
SportVue PRO™‘s workplace applications are vast and varied and include other applications such as guidance systems for construction, emergency response and situational awareness systems for law enforcement, military and first responders, measurement systems in testing, monitoring devices in manufacturing and processing and even general communication systems such as instant messaging and pager networks. Motion Research continues to seek other value added reseller and manufacturer relationships for these other applications.
