Second Wedding Bridal Shower

Can a Second time bride have a Bridal Shower party for all her troubles and the consequences if so.

Every Wedding is equally important for the woman who is tying the knot, whether it is first or the second. Her apprehensions may be of a different nature; but once again it is a new phase in her life, and celebrating it is as important as celebrating the first wedding.

Unfortunately, society does not necessarily function in this manner. A big elaborate second wedding is often frowned upon.

Another train of thought is that second time brides already have most of the items they need to set up a new home. Hence, there are many second time brides who would not like a bridal shower being thrown in their honor.

The most important thing is to consult the bride. It will all depend on her circumstances and social circles. Avoid any surprise bridal showers in this case altogether.

The guest list should be small and intimate, invite only those people that the bride knows personally. The groom’s mother and sister should be invited but etiquette does not demand that his other family be present.

Her ex-husband’s mother and family should be omitted totally even if she is still on good terms with them. This will avoid any awkward moments for everyone.

The theme and the shower games that are picked should be aimed at a more mature crowd, since the bride would generally be in her late thirties or early forties.

Gifts for the bride may be more of personal nature since she might already have household items. The Maid of Honor could check with the bride if she has a wish list and subtly announce this to the guests while inviting them.

The most appropriate theme for a second wedding bridal shower would be “Honeymoon” theme. Guests could give the bride a gift certificate for a romantic dinner for two, a relaxing weekend at a resort, a basket filled with chocolates and wine or plane tickets for two to any beach destination close by.

A second time bride should be as pampered as any bride. Her bridal shower may not be just to shower her with gifts and advice for life after marriage; but to give her the most need moral support and love.
