New Website Reveals: Men and Children Tortured in Local Neighborhoods

A new website vows to create awareness about an insidious issue few of us know about: "Men and their children are the tortured victims of justice system and police policies gone haywire."

Windsor, Ontario (PRWEB) December 17, 2005 -- A new website, www.Presumed-Guilty.com, is a fledgling organization whose ultimate purpose is to eliminate systemic flaws in judicial systems and police polices that turn men and their children into tortured victims. In the meantime they'll do everything they can to create awareness about this insidious condition, guide men though the treacherous rigors of the legal system and then begin the emotional and spiritual healing that is inevitably required.

Apparently it's happening in normal, average neighborhoods all across the USA, Canada and democratic societies around the globe. Men and their children are the sacrificial lambs of justice system and police policies gone haywire.

According to the site, in an effort to protect women, police forces have "over-corrected" their course and adopted a zero-tolerance, arrest the male policy when called to domestic disputes. And government legal beagles have vowed to prosecute with "vigor".

The result? Men who have no previous arrests, no criminal records, are spending days incarcerated in maximum security prisons! (Even if found guilty it is rare that first offenders will serve jail time after they are convicted.) When finally released, they are forbidden from returning home, find themselves with temporary living arrangements in the homes of sympathetic acquaintances and are banned from making any contact with their spouse.

Even more egregious, if they have children, they may be completely separated, without contact of any kind, for months!

The site continues: "Having won his release, Dad finds himself in a financial nightmare. He's still obligated to pay his rent or mortgage, the utility bills and car payments. But now he's faced with financing a second residence, retaining a criminal lawyer and quite possibly a family court specialist as well.

Often it is beyond their reach. It's overwhelming."

"Being arrested is traumatic enough. But making all the necessary arrangements for release…a new residence, bail, surety...all while incarcerated, without regular access to a telephone nor phone numbers is mind boggling." says Sean LeMay, Director of Presumed-Guilty.com and himself a victim. "But the real heartbreak is not being able to tell your kids you love them and miss them--to reassure them. For all you know, they think you have abandoned them."

Who's taking the kids to boy scouts? Gymnastics? Little League? Swimming lessons?

Who's buying groceries?

Where is the presumption of innocence--a basic tenet of societies that embrace the principles of human rights?

Children suffer severe mental anguish. Dads cry silently.

And the site concludes, "It's torture. Plain and simple."
