New ‘Healthcare Passport’ Proves Compliance for UK Temporary Staff with Ambition 24hours

Ambition 24hours is the first UK agency to produce a computerised ‘Healthcare Passport’ for its 15,000 temporary teaching, health and social care personnel, according to managing director Penny Streeter.

Ambition 24hours has produced a new computer-generated, tamper-proof photo-ID card for its UK temporary personnel. The card includes all relevant information for CSCI, Commission for Social Care Inspection, including CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) registration, renewal dates and other relevant data, including specialist qualifications.

Production of the personalised cards was made possible by the development by Ambitions 24hours of its new ‘Enterprise’ software, written by the in-house IT team over two years, according to Penny Streeter. Temporary personnel will carry the ID card at all times during employment with the agency, she says, for instant validation of compliance during placement with any hospital, GP surgery, care home, school or social service agency.

“The new software is unique in automating the collection, validation, collation and printing of personalised registration data – so it ensures a faster and safer method of ensuring full compliance, for the assurance of the health, education and social service organisations with which we work,” says Penny Streeter.

“Compliance is a major consideration for all recruitment agencies in this field. We wanted to use proven IT technology in conjunction with our own rigorous interview and reference checking services, conducted by our in-house teams, to produce a better solution. ‘Enterprise’ software will even automatically ‘flag up’ when the compliance registration for any agency staff is due for renewal, and they will be de-selected on our database for placement by our consultants until the registration is confirmed and verified,” says Penny Streeter.

‘Enterprise’ enables the agency’s consultants to quickly select relevant temporary staff for any placement nationwide based upon a range of criteria, such as qualifications, experience, proximity to the client organisation and previous appointments: “ Clients prefer to have temporary staff who have worked with them before, for continuity with their staff and clients, and pre-existing understanding of organisational practices,” says Penny Streeter.

Ambition 24hours, with 19 branch offices nationwide, operates a comprehensive programme for personnel assessment, training and management of locum doctors and other temporary staff: nurses, home carers, social workers, teachers and lecturers. Staff are pre-screened in compliance with all relevant Government, Education, Health and Social Service codes of practice.
