AMSOIL Awards Johnson Racing its Inaugural Grassroots Racing Team of the Year

Out of hundreds of teams Johnson Racing showed that there is more to racing than just winning. Pride in one's craft, along with sportsmanship and a little humanity, can last a lot longer in the eyes of a competitor. These are the reasons the Johnsons were named the AMSOIL Grassroots Racing Team of the Year.

(PRWEB) December 20, 2005 -- This year AMSOIL, a producer of synthetic lubricants and filtration products, instituted a Racer of the Year program. AMSOIL sponsored more than 350 teams through the Co-op Race Program in 2005 and AMSOIL dealers from every corner of the United States and Canada are using these sponsorships as a valuable form of promoting and advertising in their communities. While these sponsored teams rarely make national headlines AMSOIL expects them to represent the company and its products with professionalism, class, and sportsmanship. This past September, AMSOIL received a letter from James Hartmann, from Murray County, Minnesota; the letter spelled out how a race team helped out his grandson at an AMA District 22 race by providing them with their back-up bike and some AMSOIL 2-cycle oil for the weekend after the motor on their own bike had given up. The Johnson's did this despite the fact that one member of Johnson Racing was competing against Hartmann's grandson. The humanity and goodwill they showed, along with how they are teaching their kids to act professional, was why AMSOIL chose Johnson Racing. Johnson Racing is also performing well on the track; in their first year Casey and Konner Johnson finished in the top 10 in their classes. Konner, riding in the 65sr class, finished 3rd overall. Meanwhile, big brother Casey, riding in the 85 sr class, finished the season in 7th.

AMSOIL Dealer Tim Sullivan helps support the AMSOIL Grassroots Racing Team of the Year through a co-op sponsorship with AMSOIL's Racing Department. AMSOIL products are distributed through its network of independent dealers, some of which may choose to sponsor a grassroots race team. Co-op sponsorships currently exist in motocross, circle track, drag racing, and sno-cross among other types of racing.
