New Jersey-based photographer Donna Connor helps raise money for Community Food Bank of New Jersey-Southern Branch by donating proceeds from Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm Art.

The Atlantic County Utilities Authority has held a food drive for the past 15 years during the winter holiday season to help collect canned food donations for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey-Southern Branch in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. This year, the ACUA is getting an extra helping hand from award-winning photographer Donna Connor. Connor (http://www.photoface.com) has taken many beautiful photographs of the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm that she has created into posters that are currently for sale, with all proceeds going to the food bank.

"Donna is a wonderful photographer whose images delight many, and now that artwork will also help those in need," said Richard Dovey, ACUA President. "Donna is always thinking of ways that she can help others and this is just one of her many charitable deeds."

Recently, at the wind farm's dedication on Dec. 12, 2005, participants were asked to bring a canned food item as "admission" to the event. Cans collected were donated to the food bank. Connor wanted to personally help in the effort and decided to sell some of her photographs and artwork of the wind farm at the event as souvenirs, with all proceeds going to the food bank.

"The Wind Farm is such a positive thing both for our area and our Earth, that I wanted to find a way to celebrate its beauty," Connor said. "With so many breathtaking views of the turbines, a series of posters seemed perfect. I believe everyone has the ability to help the community in their own unique way. To have had the opportunity to photograph these powerful and majestic structures and then to have those images help others is inspiring to me. As art nourishes the soul, this food drive will nourish those in need. And to me, that's a double blessing."

Those who were not able to attend the historic event can still purchase one of Connor's posters featuring the wind farm and help the food bank at the same time. Posters can be purchased online by visiting http://www.acua.com and clicking on the poster icon or by visiting Connor's website directly at PhotoFace.com.

The ACUA's 15th Annual Holiday Food Drive continues through to December 31, 2005. Last year a total of 44,140 pounds of food was collected. Sponsored by Community Energy Inc., Wawa Food Markets and the ACUA, the Holiday Food Drive gives residents an easy and convenient way to help the needy while helping the environment. The Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm project consists of five, 380-feet tall wind turbines capable of producing 7.5 megawatts of energy and is New Jersey's first wind power project. Please visit http://www.acua.com for details on the wind farm.
