Trends and Predictions for 2006

A list of trends and predictions for 2006 that could affect your life, your health and your business.

(PRWEB) December 22, 2005 -- Next year you’ll be watching movies on a hand-held digital device, running an online business on the side and shopping close to home to avoid crowds and high gas prices.

These are some of the predictions of various trend spotters and futurists for 2006 and beyond.

“There’s a general consensus that the digital age will continue to advance, the global arena will be more pressing, and the fear of terrorism and pandemics will keep us home,” said Brad Parker who compiled the list at the “Crash & Burn” site at http://frontlinepublicrelations.blogspot.com.

He says futurists see Americans becoming more green as they move to embrace alternative energy sources and become more involved in environmental issues.

“There is also evidence of movement by more people away from the big cities as people seek lower housing prices and a simpler lifestyle,” he says. “Some predictions see a backlash against rapid change and increasingly costly and extravagant houses and cars. ”

The list of 38 trends and predictions was compiled from various sources and includes items on areas such as energy, environment, medicine, security, marketing, global politics, communication, technology and entertainment.

Parker says a number of predictions relate to fallout from global terrorism and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

“There is a realization by Americans that the government on all levels cannot adequately protect them,” he said. “This is giving rise to an interest in self-reliance or what some are calling a resurgence of ‘survivalism’.”

Parker is an accredited public relations professional with more than 20 years in the industry. The “Crash & Burn” Web site considers issues in the public relations, media relations and reputation management areas.
