Newtown CT (PRWEB) December 25, 2005 -- Ray Shaw presents a collection of books and calendar Diamonds in the Rough, Diamonds in the Rough 2006, and The Newtown Sandy Hooks. The christening of a vintage nine, to introduce vintage base ball to the world with Print-on-Demand Availability at Lulu.com
Ray Shaw is a graphic designer, photographer and avid vintage base ball crank (fan) who created his own team in the small town of Newtown, in western Connecticut. Ray shares some of his favorite photographs of vintage base ball action collected over the past three years on base ball diamonds around the northeastern US with players and emerging fans of this hot new sports phenomenon that is sweeping the country.
He has recently published two books Diamonds in the Rough and The Newtown Sandy Hooks. The christening of a vintage nine, and a calendar Diamonds in the Rough 2006 in conjunction with Lulu (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books.
Diamonds in the Rough is a photographic look at base ball the way it was meant to be played; a view of vintage base ball played by the rules and traditions of the 19th century game by contemporary ballplayers. This complete 2005 full copy edition discusses the vintage game, the teams and players and provides the reader with the impression that he is being swept back in time to an earlier day when ballists played for the love of the game.
The Newtown Sandy Hooks. The christening of a vintage nine is a graphic look at the creation of a contemporary vintage base ball team – the Newtown Sandy Hooks. A game-by-game breakdown of the players and their experiences playing this new but familiar sport. The book is the second in the ‘Diamonds in the Rough’ series of vintage base ball books by Ray Shaw, contains over 100 original black & white, and color photographs by Ray Shaw and Karen O'Maxfield.
Diamonds in the Rough 2006 is a calendar that compliments both books. All three items are available for purchase at www.lulu.com, in a marketplace filled with other unique and wonderful surprises.
“Independent publishing and print-on-demand is the wave of the future, and the future is now,” said Ray Shaw. “The Lulu process allows me to cut out the middle man (i.e. a separate publisher) and get my work out there the way I want it. My books are much like Lulu itself—it puts control of your destiny in your own hands.”
