Records Broken by Crowborough Scouts
1st Crowborough Scout Group is celebrating their best year ever. It is a thriving Group, one of the largest in the UK; these are some of the headline achievements in 2005.
(PRWEB) December 30, 2005 -- 300 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers took part in 502 meetings and events during 2005, the Group is amazingly active. Virtually every County and District event is entered and members even took part in National events such as EuroJam.
They achieved a record number of Chief Scouts Awards, 12 Scouts of which were the Gold award.
This year’s Scout Show was recognised as the best yet, which is not bad since the Shows have been going for nearly 100 years now.
The Scouts won the prestigious Downsman competition (a speed hike along the South Downs) with the second best time ever of 25 miles in 5 hours 23 minutes!
The 1st Crowborough web site was launched this year, www.1c.org.uk and it has already been nominated for awards. The site has over 500 web pages, 2,000 photos and includes masses of information about the Group’s history.
John (Skip) King was awarded a 50 year long service award (he has really done 57 years now) and he still helps run both Scout Troops each week.
