La Conchita Remembers Deadly Mudslide: One Year Observance

Residents of La Conchita will be holding ceremonies to mark the one-year observance of the deadly mudslide that hit the community.

La Conchita, CA -- Residents of La Conchita will be holding ceremonies to mark the one-year observance of the deadly mudslide that hit the community.

Since last year's deadly mudslide hit (January 10, 2005), time has stood still for residents of the seaside community of La Conchita. Ten residents were killed and several houses were crushed. The community continues to mourn the losses and damage to the area, as the thirty feet of earth that fell onto a portion of the community remains untouched.

Ceremonies will be held in the community of La Conchita on Santa Barbara Avenue, Saturday, January 7, 2006 beginning at noon.
