Detroit Native Son Delivers Taut New Urban Mystery
Set in Detroit this new urban mystery is full of the drama of life in the D!
(PRWEB) December 31, 2005 -- Daryl Smith Bey published his debut novel, The Glass Key.
One by one men are dying. Are they suicides or murders and who is next?
Essence makes her living dealing with death. As a former Detroit Police Officer and now a PI, she's seen her share of corpses—many of them victims of violent crimes. But never before has her blood run cold, and never have the victims been so close to home. Because now the lifeless bodies on the streets are known not only to her, but to her illustrious and famous father, a well known businessman. And the closer she gets to the case, the closer everything ties to her very own father.
There's no denying the mind-reeling evidence before her shocked eyes and those of Tony, the police Detective she is partnering with. While no longer a member of the city’s police force, Tony has decided to assist Essence in the Case of the Diggs Crusaders. He is also falling fast for his beautiful and sassy PI. But love takes a back seat when murder gets close to home and even more chilling is the discovery that the current murders are linked to homicides from the past. Her fathers past.
Essence's search for answers takes her back in time when her father was a G and Essence is on a life and death mission that brings her closer to her own demise as killers go after her. Is it the Diggs Crusaders case she is investigating, or something else? With the aid of Tony, Essence goes on a man hunt to bring down a ruthless killer or killers before her fathers life and legacy is exposed and comes crashing down.
Daryl Smith Bey
Daryl Smith Bey is a native of Detroit where he bases his debut novel, The Glass Key. While a young 41, he has only just begun his writing career in the fiction genre. Several years ago Daryl wrote a semi autobiography and anti gang/crime Manual, Hard Talk. The book is a tool for law enforcement, social workers as well as youth in deterring crime and gang activity. Daryl’s first novel, an urban mystery titled, The Glass Key, is coming soon to a bookseller near you! He is currently incarcerated in a Michigan Prison for a non violent drug offense and is a changed man from when he first was incarcerated. Daryl has become a minister who counsels on right living and transitioning from prison to payroll and prosperity once outside of prison. He is active in providing cultural classes and information such as Kwanzaa and African culture programs. The Glass Key is a story that is close to Daryl’s heart as it is based in his native city and speaks of the urban drama and lifestyle he grew up knowing in the streets of Detroit.
Daryl envisions his imminent release within the next year with plans of working as a social worker, advising children and youth against the crimes and sins of gang and criminal activity.
Daryl will also continue his writing career with further installments of his mystery series and other Black urban fiction. Daryl is the father of a son and a daughter, (Daryl Jr. and Darnita) and very close to his fmily who have steadfastly supported him since his incarceration.
