Ms. Messina-Brown created the Gourmet Tote out of a personal need. She entertains in her home frequently and attends quite a few food related social gatherings every month. She realized she and her guests were transporting their prepared dishes in paper bags, canvas totes or simply boxes. This followed an uncomfortable car ride where hot plates were either wedged on the floor or hazardously placed on laps. She wanted the ability to bring more than one prepared dish, food item and perhaps a bottle of wine without stacking things on top of each other. She wanted something functional as well as fashionable when she showed up at functions. When her research came up with nothing compared to what she wanted, she decided to design one herself.
