CM Professionals, a Content Management Community of Practice Announces Second Semiannual Member Summit
Meeting to take place in San Francisco on April 11, 2005 in conjunction with the Gilbane Conference on Content Management Technologies
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) February 17, 2005 -- CM Professionals (CM Pros), a rapidly growing organization with members engaged in a wide spectrum of content management activities, industries, and geographies, today announced its second semiannual member Summit to be held in San Francisco on April 11, 2005.
The event will take place at the Palace Hotel in conjunction with the Gilbane Conference on Content Management Technologies. The one-day Spring Summit will provide an open, interactive format to enable participants to get acquainted and exchange ideas with others working in similar areas of endeavor.
Activities being planned for the Spring Summit will build on the tremendous success of the first Summit (the Fall Summit held November 30, 2004, in Boston). Participants in that meeting praised
the CM Professionals organization, the meeting format, and the agenda:
- "When we found CM Pros our feeling was-great! finally some sessions and resources targeted to our needs."
- "I got tired of larger publishing conferences with CM tracks but no time to talk to people."
- "I saw [the Fall Summit as not just an opportunity to get the information I needed, but also to share my own successes and failures."
Participants in the Spring Summit will have an opportunity to get advice and recommendations from experts who are already well established in the field, and to exchange ideas with other
professionals working in this dynamic, increasingly important community of practice, which involves creating, managing, and
delivering the content that helps to drive the success of 21st century organizations worldwide.
Job titles of people participating in the highly collaborative effort known as content management include content creators and editors, project managers, graphic designers, workflow designers,
Web developers, publishing specialists, tools experts, system integrators, consultants, and analysts.
The content these professionals create, manage, and publish is also extremely varied, and includes corporate knowledge bases, scientific papers, membership lists, community calendars, press releases, news stories, stock photo catalogs, movie playbills, online courses, and product documentation.
Featured events at the Spring Summit include:
- Keynote address by Ann Rockley, who has done groundbreaking work in the field of information design for content reuse, and is the newly elected president of the CM Professionals board of directors.
- Small-group, roundtable discussions focusing on the strategy and practice of content management and the role of those who are engaged in this discipline.
- Working-group sessions to address the top seven 2005 organizational initiatives, which were proposed by the CM Professionals membership in a recent survey, and which have now been chosen for sponsorship by the board of directors.
"CM Professionals is growing rapidly worldwide," says Rockley. "The organization is committed to providing our members a voice on those topics that matter most to content management practitioners. Our 2005 mandate is to provide a solid infrastructure for sharing expertise and knowledge among members. The 2005 Spring Summit will provide a forum for participants to interact in intense, results-oriented discussions in key focus areas."
Cost of the Spring Summit for CM Professionals members is $120US until March 22 and thereafter $145US. For non-members, the price is $170US (which includes the CM Professionals membership fee of $50US) until March 22 and thereafter $195US. These prices include lunch and a Gilbane conference discount of $150US. For more
