Author Advises Parents About Drug Free Children.
Raising drug free children- What every parent should know
Bronx, NY (PRWEB) February 17, 2005 -- Author Alan Cramer has some advice for parents. Although nothing can guarantee that your children will stay off of drugs, there are some preventative measures you can take," claims Cramer. Here is his list of five things that parents can do to help keep their children on the right path.
First of all, talk to your children about drugs; youd be surprised how many parents dont do this- until its too late. If you dont tell them drugs are wrong, who will, the neighborhood drug dealer?
Cramers second piece of advice is, know their friends. You can tell a lot about your child by their choice of friends. Sometimes this can be a wake up call for parents.
Third, dont assume anything or take anything for granted, just because you dont give your child money. This doesnt mean that he/she cant get drugs. Most recovering addicts will tell you, The First Ones Always Free."
Fourth, encourage reading. This includes reading to younger children. Drug use often stems from ignorance of the consequences. Reading is one of the best ways to thwart ignorance.
And finally, dont use them yourself- need I say more.
