2005 Schaumburg Flyers High School Baseball Classic Presented by Adidas

The 5th Annual Schaumburg Flyers High School Baseball Classic is scheduled to take place April 7-9 at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Illinois. The seventh-year professional baseball club will once again provide their stadium for the three day event. The Flyers Classic will showcase eight high school baseball programs from the Chicago land area.

(PRWEB) February 19, 2005 -- Co-host Schaumburg High School is scheduled to open the Flyers Classic with a game against New Trier at 4:30 PM on Thursday afternoon. The Trevians are led by the University of Texas-bound and former M.O.P. of the Flyers Classic Miles Clauss. Schaumburg is lead by super sophomore Grant Monroe, who as a freshmen threw a no hitter in last year's IHSA state tournament.

St. Rita will play Libertyville on Thursday evening in Game 2 of the opening twin bill. St. Rita is led by Purdue University-bound Ryne White, a senior 1st baseman. St. Rita is the pre season #1 ranked team in the state by the Truth Prep Baseball Report.

Another doubleheader is slated for Friday. Co-host H.D. Jacobs will take on highly regarded Lake Park in the afternoon game at 4:30 PM. The field is rounded out by Lockport & Cary-Grove. Lockport features senior outfielder, Jake Christensen, a football signee at the University of Iowa, while Cary-Grove is led by Eastern Illinois University-bound Brett Nommensen, a senior outfielder and Augustana-bound Don Hansen, who will double dip in baseball and football next year as a college freshman. Lockport is ranked #31 in the nation by Baseball America and #2 in the state by the Truth Prep Baseball Report. Those two schools will meet on Friday night at 7:00 PM.

An action packed day of baseball will conclude the tournament on Saturday. Consolation games will occur simultaneously at H.D. Jacobs High School and Lake Park High School, beginning at 1:00 PM. Alexian Field and Schaumburg High School will conduct semifinal bracket games at 1:00 PM. At 3:00 PM, the 5th place game will be played at Alexian Field while the 3rd place game unfolds at Schaumburg High. The tournament championship game will take place at 6:30 PM on Saturday at Alexian Field.
