Mekhi was one of six celebrities who played No Limit Texas Hold 'Em on game six of the showÂs third season, which aired last night, February 20th. The show brought together celebrities Levar Burton, Andrea Parker, Jon Hensley, Adrian Young and Wil Wheaton to play poker for their favorite charities.
ÂWhile celebrity poker tournaments are the biggest rage and the stars love playing for charity, they bring charities additional exposure and the money from the winnings is put to good use, said Ross Ellis, Chief Executive Officer of Love Our Children USA. ÂWe are thrilled and deeply grateful to Mekhi Phifer and the World Poker Tour for this donation.Â
Love Our Children USA is the leading national grassroots organization that honors, respects and protects children. With noted celebrities on its board, Love Our Children USA is a voice for children  a liaison between those with no power and those with power. Its mission is to break the cycle that victimizes children, and it works to enable child success by eliminating behaviors that keep children from reaching their potential. They do this by promoting positive changes in parenting and family attitudes, as well as prevention strategies through public education campaigns. Love Our Children USA works to empower and support children, teens, parents and families through information, resources, advocacy and online youth mentoring.
Love our Children USA is getting to the root of the cause of the victimization of more than 3 million children each year  of the abductions of almost 1.8 million children reported missing each year  and of 580,000 children in foster care in our country today. By changing social behaviors and attitudes and by generating positive change, millions of children can be saved, allowing them to grow up healthy, loved, safe and nurtured.
