Cascade DataHub Puts Live Data on the Web

A free Java API embeds live data into web pages, making real-time data accessible on the Internet with no client-side installation necessary.

(PRWEB) February 23, 2005 -- Cogent Real-Time Systems, providers of real-time data connectivity software, announced free Java applet support for their Cascade DataHub that embeds live data into standard web pages, giving browser-based access to real-time data.

"This technology makes it possible for anyone to publish dynamic information in a web browser, whether over the Internet or on the corporate LAN." said Mr. Andrew Thomas, president of Cogent. "While analysts are generating data with Excel and other applications, users everywhere can be working with that data in real time."

This technology makes it possible for anyone to publish dynamic information in a web browser, whether over the Internet or on the corporate LAN.
Basic HTML coding is all that's required to embed live data into a web page. The display is updated instantaneously whenever data changes, with no browser refresh necessary. Web developers who want to show more than numbers or text in their pages have free access to Cogent's extensible Java source code for creating dynamic custom applications. Live data from the Cascade DataHub can be incorporated into web-based trends, tables, animations and remote user interfaces.

"There is a demo on our website for anyone to view," said Mr. Thomas. "We expect interest to come from those sectors that use real-time data, like financial trading, process control, and embedded applications. But the need for real-time data is everywhere, from dynamic advertising signage to remote monitoring and telemetry. There will be applications we haven't even dreamed of."

The Cascade DataHub lets users share real-time data among any number of applications using standard protocols and an easy-to-implement, scalable technology. It creates dynamic data links among Windows or Linux computers, over the Internet or on local area networks. With the introduction of Java applet support, real-time data can now be viewed from virtually anywhere on the Internet.

Founded in 1995, Cogent Real-Time Systems is a leading developer of middleware solutions that connect sources and consumers of live data. Customers include the Bank of Canada, Cadbury Chocolate and the European Space Agency. Cogent leverages its experience in developing real-time systems to create data transport models for time-sensitive applications.
