Art thats Good Enough to Eat: Delicious, a Show of Culinary Art, Opens at Studio Gallery in San Francisco

Studio Gallery in San Francisco presents Delicious, a show of art inspired by food and drink. The show, which runs from March 2nd – April 3rd, will include work from over local 30 artists in a variety of media.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 23, 2005 -- Two of the Bay Areas abiding passions—-food and art—-come together in Delicious, a show of culinary art at Studio Gallery in San Francisco. The show, which runs from March 2nd – April 3rd, will include work from over local 30 artists.

Art on display will range from traditional still lives and landscapes to more humorous pieces from artists who still clearly play with their food. The work really gives you a sense of the diversity of the local art scene," says Rab Terry, gallery owner and an artist himself. "And who can resist a painting of toast?" Over 125 pieces will be on display, include paintings, photography, sculpture, floorcloths, jewelry, collage, woodblock prints, encaustics, ceramics, blown glass, and handmade books.

Many of the artists in the show point to the local farmers markets as a source of inspiration. Some artists go one better and incorporate actual produce in their work. Maya Kini uses very thin slices of real fruit and vegetables, encased in resin and framed in sterling silver, to form her stylish jewelry. San Francisco painter Anna Conti collaborates with L. Maud Kirk to create what she terms bean paintings" of toys from San Franciscos Musee Mechanique that are edged in intricate patterns made of rice, beans, and other legumes.

Delicious will run from March 2 – April 3, 2005. Studio Gallery is located at 1718A Polk Street (between Clay and Washington) in San Francisco. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Friday 11 am – 8 pm, Saturday + Sunday 11 am – 6 pm, and Monday + Tuesday by appointment.
