Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2005 -- Today, Bert Monroy, local digital artist, author, TechTV personality and PhotoShop guru announced the exhibition of his paintings. The show entitled Digital Hyper-realism by Bert Monroy," is held at Buccis, 6121 Hollis Street in Emeryville. The artists reception will be Thursday, March 3 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and the exhibition runs February 26 to March 26, 2005.
Bert Monroy is best known for his realistic images of city views and local scenery, which are painted" with a great deal of detail. Comprised of digital paintings from the past few years, Monroys works in the show include red truck", a large study of the textures of the fender of an old truck; Shoe Repair", a study in sunlight and shadow of a local storefront; Oyster Bar", a nighttime city scene which displays the play of light and reflection on a rain-soaked Manhattan restaurant; and Bodega shadows", a light and shadow play of sun, wood and sand from Bodega Bay. Monroys exhibition also includes some examples of the artists work in progress so that the viewer can see how Monroy builds up the rich detail in his works.
Monroy states, "As a photo-realist painter, I have often been asked why I dont just take a photograph. Good question, when you consider my paintings look like photographs. Well, for one thing, Im not a photographer. To me, it is not the destination that is important—it is the journey. The incredible challenge of recreating reality is my motivation. Unlike a photograph, everything in my paintings is in focus. It is like being there. Wherever your eye travels it will come into focus."
