13-year-old Boys & Girls Harbor student, Celeste, was inspired to create this homage to her peers in Chad and Niger. The artwork sold in silent auction at last year's Harbor "Salute" and proceeds went to a charity that benefits these less fortunate children overseas.
This collage was created by 13-year-old Boys & Girls Harbor student artist Celeste in the after-school Genesis program, in an art project that aims to teach kids about their peers in less privileged societies and, in turn, give back to the global community. Celeste's work was inspired by the lives of children in Chad and Niger. It was part of an exhibition that toured the United Nations, Sotheby’s, and Lincoln Center, and was sold through Silent Auction at last year’s “Salute to Achievement” at the Waldorf-Astoria, to benefit charities helping youngsters in those countries.
