The Night to Fight Hunger: A Special Family-Friendly Concert to Benefit the Stark County Hunger Task Force.

This release announces a concert benefitting the Stark County Hunger Task Force. Four folk music acts will perform: Andrew McKnight, Wild Carrot, Silent Lion, and Willoughby Run.

Canton, OH (PRWEB) March 4, 2005 -- Folk music to feed minds, spirits, and bodies. Virginia troubadour, Andrew McKnight, headlines this concert on Saturday, March 5, at the historic Canton Palace Theater, 605 Market Avenue North, Canton Ohio 44702, 6:30PM-10:30PM. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 children, available at the Palace Theater box office, 330-454-8172.

Environmental engineer-turned-singer/songwriter, Andrew McKnight is a high-energy crowd pleaser for audiences, from intimate unplugged house concerts to large festival stages. Equal parts Shenandoah Valley storyteller and poet blended with ever-present strains of the historian, geographer and naturalist, his rurally-based music reflects an oral history built on the past while firmly musically rooted in the present.

Also appearing are special musical guests Silent Lion, Wild Carrot, and Willoughby Run. Silent Lion is a duo playing a unique blend of medieval, Celtic, bluegrass, Spanish, and original acoustic music. The award-winning Cincinnati-based duo Wild Carrot" features Pamela Temple and Spencer Funk. Rooted in traditional American music, their repertoire branches in diverse directions: jazz, blues, traditional folk songs, not-so-traditional folksongs, show tunes and originals. From Shaker Heights, Willoughby Run is built around the voice of singer/songwriter Laura Webster. The blend of accoustic guitar, conga and cello make this group's unique sound one not to miss.

Artists CDs will be available for purchase at the concert. Concert-goers can also purchase raffle tickets to win a serene ride for two on the Goodyear Blimp.

The Night to Fight Hunger, a special concert to benefit The Stark County Hunger Task Force, is presented by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Canton. (UUCGC).
