The Pediatrician Will See You… Today

Families can get timely care for their sick children this winter. The pediatricians at Family Medical Center Garland (FMCG) have opened their clinic doors at times when health care clinics are traditionally unavailable – weekends and evenings. The stress of a sick child is no longer compounded by the stress of unavailable health care.

(PRWEB) March 6, 2005 -- It is Saturday night and your child cant sleep. She has been suffering severe ear pain all night, and your doctor is closed until Monday. How can your child wait all weekend for the doctors office to open? A child shouldnt suffer simply because she gets sick after hours," says Robert Kotas, M.D. Keeping our clinic open during evenings and weekends helps keep our patients out of the emergency rooms." Dr. Kotas is one of six pediatricians at FMCG who developed a call schedule to make outpatient health care more available for patients.

The patients have had an overwhelmingly positive response to FMCGs extended hours. I love the availability," says Rebecca Lanman of Garland, Texas. It is always easy to get in and see a doctor." Mrs. Lanman was able to have her sick 9 month old infant treated urgently by the pediatricians.

The continuity helps us too," reports Paul Bassel, M.D. By keeping the patients records in house, we spend less time trying to track down records from urgent and emergency clinics."

The extra hours have been especially helpful during the flu season, when emergency departments are overflowing with patients suffering from cough and fever. Johanna Limsenben, M.D. said, This winter we have been open Sunday afternoons, which offers availability to families who cant get time off from work."

FMCG normal operating hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. After hours care is available weekdays 6:00pm-7:30pm, Saturdays 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and Sundays 1:00pm - 4:00pm. There are no after hours telephone hassles, as patients are seen on a walk-in basis.

FMCG is located at 601 Clara Barton, Baylor Plaza 3 in Garland, Texas. The pediatricians are Shawn Abel, M.D., Paul Bassel, M.D., Robert Kotas, M.D., Johanna Limsenben, M.D., Rosemary Roseberry, M.D., and Myron Rosen, M.D. For more details about hours, insurance, and providers, logon to www.fmcgarland.com.
