Santa Clara County, CA (PRWEB) March 7, 2005 - The Barista Competition team from Barefoot Coffee Roasters and one of their wholesale café customers Baristas will be competing for the title of the United States Barista Champion at the upcoming United States Barista Competition (USBC) in Seattle, WA. A total of three (3) of the Baristas competing are on the Barefoot Barista Competition Team. The USBC is a competition that pits the nations top 50 Baristas from the best espresso bars across America in an intense espresso making competition. The winner of the Barista Championship will go on to represent the United States in the World Barista Championships in April in Seattle. Not to mention some pretty swank prizes and bragging rights as the best Barista in America.

Baristas (individuals who excel in the art of espresso preparation) from Barefoot Coffee Roasters, an artisan roaster of organic and Fair Trade coffees, have competed in several Barista competitions before and have done very well. Most recently Eugenia Chien got 7th place and Monica Hill placed 13th at the Western Regional Barista Competition in February. The Barista Competition team is comprised of these coffee rock stars:
• Eugenia Chien, Barefoot Coffee Roasters, Santa Clara, CA
• Monica Hill, Barefoot Coffee Roasters, Santa Clara, CA
• Eton Tsuno, Etoniq Espresso, South San Francisco, CA

Etoniq Espresso is a wholesale customer of Barefoot Coffee Roasters. This is his second competition after the Western Regional Barista Competition. Monica, Eugenia and Eton will all be competing in the first round on Thursday March 10th. The semi finals are Saturday the 12th where they hope to represent the Bay Area.

Im seriously buzzed about competing in the USBC," said Monica Hill, Barefoots lead Wholesale Barista Trainer and a USBC competitor. It makes me feel like Im part of the coffee revolution, having a small hand in changing Americas view of coffee and espresso."
