Faster, Better, and Now Cheaper - Lulu Drops Comic Prices
Authors complain, Lulu listens. Lower prices for saddle-stitched comic books effective immediately.
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) March 11, 2005 -- Six months after rolling out comic-book size, on-demand publisher Lulu inc. has lowered the price of its saddle-stitched comic books. "Although the quality of Lulu's comics is exceptional, the price was just too high." said Josef Komenda, a member of the Lulu Comics Subversives. "This lower pricing gives comic book artists the ability to completely abandon offset printing, which requires orders in the hundreds or thousands."
Lulu uses the latest technology to produce books only as needed, a solution that makes it ideal for independent comic artists, who often struggle to break even at conventions. Jenny Breeden, author of The Devil's Panties, (http://thedevilspanties.keenspace.com): "I'm at that stage where I'm caught between fans wanting to buy the comics, and my funds running out to get them printed. That's why I adore these guys so much. I just put a direct link from the fans to my books on Lulu."
All saddle-stitched comics published on Lulu will have the new, lower pricing, and authors with existing comics can easily update their books to change the price. "What's nice about this change" said Leah Riley, Leader of the Lulu Comics Subversives, "Is that our existing authors don't get burned by this. It's not like they have piles and piles of books they just bought at the higher price."
