Twelve Year Old Jazz Prodigy Matt Savage Swims With Dolphins of Curacao Dolphin Academy
Matt is on Curacao to perform at a fundraising event for the Autism Association of Curacao (AAC). His group, "the Matt Savage Trio" will perform at Landhuis Brakkeput Mei Mei on Saturday March 12 2005 to raise money for helping autistic children on Curacao.
Willemstad, Curacao (PRWEB) March 12, 2005 -- On Friday March 11th, 2005, twelve (12) year old jazz prodigy Matt Savage swam with dolphins of Curacao Dolphin Academy.
Matt Savage is a famous jazz musician, though he is only 12 years old. It sounds impossible, but at the age of 12 this outstanding pianist has already 5 CD's to his credit. He has been compared to Mozart and appeared on national television and in a lot of newspapers in the USA numerous times. Being a musical savant at such a young age is a miracle in itself, but even more surprising is the fact that Matt has autism.

Matt and his mother always had the dream to swim with dolphins. Their dream became reality on Friday March 11th 2005, when they were invited to visit Curacao Dolphin Academy and to participate in a Dolphin Swim program with his mother Diane. For Matt it was a good time to relax in between his demanding activities. Both Matt and Diane loved the interaction with the bottlenose dolphins, they were really on cloud nine during this experience!
Though Matt did a 'normal' Dolphin Swim, Curacao offers a facility which is specialized in Dolphin Assisted Therapy for children with different types of disorders, for example autism. The Curacao Dolphin Therapy and Research Center (CDTC) welcomes these children to help them develop and push back their bounds by means of a well-structured dolphin therapy program.
Dolphin assisted therapy, under supervision of specialized therapists, combines both traditional and new, inventive therapy-methods with the interaction of a dolphin. A fitting program is constructed for each individual child before starting the actual therapy. Extensive research has shown that specially trained dolphins are able to realize a child's problems and help a child re-establish the contact to its surroundings.
Matt of course didn't have the time available to follow a complete dolphin therapy program. However he did enjoy his Dolphin Swim program very much and keeps promoting awareness for autism!
