OnceWritten.com, a website devoted to promoting the works of new and emerging authors, has announced the deadline for its Fall Fiction Contest. The contest, which features a $1,000 grand prize and one $100 first prize is seeking high-quality short stories with a maximum of 5,000 words from new and established writers. The contest deadline is April 30, and a reading fee of $15 applies.
OnceWritten.com offers two annual general fiction contests, two annual poetry contests, and an annual horror/Halloween contest, and has already awarded more than $4,000 in cash prizes to emerging authors. As a resource to new writers, OnceWritten.com also provides a free, comprehensive links page to external contests that offer prize money of $500.
OnceWritten.com was established to provide a forum to help emerging writers find their voice and get published. The site's one-of-a-kind bookstore is a fantastic promotion tool (listings begin at just $15) and lists primarily books written by authors who have published three or less manuscripts.
The siteÂs most popular feature is a monthly book giveaways page, that allows all readers to enter to win new books by generally first-time authors. The giveaways page offers at least five contests monthly, and each contest usually receives in excess of 1,000 page views per month. http://www.oncewritten.com/BookGiveAways.htm
Finally, daily writing prompts and advice by newly published as well as established authors are all part of the free service offered at the website.
