The conversion occurs in real-time with the minimum latency possible.
The latest version extends the value of Digital Ear® by transforming it into a powerful MIDI controller. Now, musicians have the ability to produce MIDI output without using the traditional keyboard, but by directly singing to the microphone. The MIDI data are sent to a music synthesizer for playback with any timbre, or can be recorded by a sequencer for mixing with other tracks, viewing the notation or further processing.
The ability to capture a performance the nuance and expressive power of the human music player or vocalist depends on dynamics and articulation, and many audio-to-MIDI software programs fall short in that regard. Digital Ear® sends high-resolution pitch events closely matching those of the original sound. Musical effects like vibrato, tremolo, pitch-bend, or portamento are faithfully converted and reproduced into any voice of your synthesizer.
