Got Gourds - if not, Get Gourdaments

What do you get when you combine earth's rustic gourd designs with the whimsical stylings of award-winning artist Devon Cameron? Gourdaments. From garden to gallery, these gourds make wonderful gifts, home accents, or garden décor.

(PRWEB) April 13, 2005 -- Gourds in all states of completion tumble over each other in Devons up-state New York Studio. Some are ready to ship to art galleries and museums throughout the US. Others are scrubbed clean, each waiting to be imbued with its own unique personality. Some will be Cleo cats, some Olde Century cats, yet others will become folk-art roosters reminiscent of farm kitchens filled with the scent of baking pies.

Figaro and Cleo, two classic Pinocchio characters, merge in the artists childhood memories to create Cleo the Goldfish Cat. With a rich, natural gourd exterior and leather-dyed, stylized Cleos" gracefully swimming around his tummy, this kitty has found true happiness and contentment, a state of being he joyously imparts to all who love him.

The Olde Century Cat, another collaborative effort between nature and artist, combines the natural gourd palette with dyed earth-tones to create a calico cat with a self- satisfied grin every bit as whimsical and winning as Alices Cheshire pal.

Rusty Roosters old-timey, folk-art charm appeals to antique enthusiasts, decorators, collectors, and folks who yearn for simpler times.

Gourds are related to cucumbers, pumpkins, and zucchini. All are branches on the cucurbit family tree. There are ornamental gourds, the kind that we associate with Fall and Thanksgiving, and hard-shelled gourds, which are tough-skinned and hard as wood. The latter are what clutter Devons studio awaiting transformation into quaint personalities that will grace a buyers mantel, bookshelf, or table. Smaller creations will add interest and whimsy to holiday trees or display stands.
