Country Music Has Its First African American Female Artist

Turning The Next Page In Country Music History, Kitty Jerry released her first single Livin On Love in the U.S. and European markets. The single is from her debut album of the same name and was released for airplay on April 13, 2005 to over 350 country music radio stations. Asked why she chose country music Jerry replies, Country music has always been my passion".

(PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- Born and raised in the south, Kitty Jerry grew up on gospel and country music. The daughter of a Pentecostal Minister, Kitty is beautiful, talented, personable and is an absolute professional in the studio and on stage. Passion for her work is an understatement.

Kitty was influenced at a very young age by the likes of Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Charlie Pride and others. As time went on, Kitty states Bonnie Raitts music taught me that you can have country in your heart and still express your soulful roots. Country music was what I loved and felt".

I realized that ‘It cant be taught and you cant learn it…Country music has to come from the heart. If I dont feel it, I dont sing it!" Although I had great admiration for music legends like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker and Dolly Parton, I knew I could never emulate them. I had to be true to my style and love for what I do.

The album, Livin On Love, was produced by Ben Keith (Jewell) and Tim Drummond (Bob Dylan, James Brown) at Masterlink / Al Jolson Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The sessions included legendary players such as Eddie Bayers (Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson), Spooner Oldham (Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker), Larry Byrom (Steppenwolf), Kevin Grantt (Chelly Wright, Darryl Worley), Mike Utley (Jimmy Buffett, Petula Clark, Jackson Browne), Don White and others. When asked by industry professionals and publicists how she could get all of these great players together in one place? Kitty replied, An angel on my shoulder". BBM Records is releasing the album.

Two of the recordings, Whole Lotta Country and Fallen Heroes, were written by Kitty while Gary Nicholson, Don White and Grant Boatwright are credited for the balance of the songs.

Kitty Jerry sings country music like no other. Intimate and poignant one moment, fearlessly aggressive in the next, Kitty sings with the passion of her dreams. From light and happy to the emotional pain of reality, Livin On Love has something for everyone.

Subsequent to completing her album, Kitty also performed at Farm Aid, in Seattle Washington with music greats Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and Trick Pony. It was a trip of a lifetime" said Kitty. Prior to her Nashville recording Kitty also worked in Room A" at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles where she recorded her first four (4) songs that were produced by Jeff Weber (Jackson Browne, Pat Boone).
