Lincolnshire, IL (PRWEB) April 22, 2005 -- More than one half (52%) of Americas hard-working secretaries and administrative assistants expect to be thanked or recognized during Administrative Professionals Week (April 24 - 30), according to a survey by Quill Corp., a leading provider of office supplies, furniture and technology products.

Unlike years past, being treated to a meal out is one of the least expected forms of recognition (18.9%) Today, administrative professionals look to receive a gift certificate or gift for the home or office (61.3%) for what some could call their superhero role in the office.

The Quill survey also asked those polled whether they feel appreciated by their office colleagues. An overwhelming number of administrative professionals (70.7%) say they do feel appreciated for their work. As for how many respondents are aware of Administrative Professionals Week, more than half know the week is approaching.

The results of the Quill survey show that administrative professionals do feel their work is well respected by bosses and co-workers," says Larry Morse, Quill president. The four million secretaries and administrative professionals working in the United States are the unsung heroes of the workforce – without them, most offices would grind to a halt. These dedicated professionals make up over 75 percent of Quills customers. We conducted this survey to better understand their perspective and make sure we are constantly in tune with their needs."

To characterize the scope of their responsibilities, Quill also asked respondents what character from the thrilling superhero movie; The Incredibles" best describes their daily role. A majority (58.5%) compared their role to Helen Parr (Elastigirl), who is ultra-flexible; a multi-tasker with incredible stretching power. Others (14.1%) compared themselves to Lucius Best (Frozone), who is cool under pressure and a friend and mentor to all.

Complete survey results are available at http://www.adminday.com/Survey-Release.htm.

The survey was conducted by Quill in March 2005. Over 770 secretaries and administrative professionals responded.
