Since 1993, more than 75,000 students from 70 countries have studied English in one of 8 state university programs in Florida. Members of the Florida Intensive English Consortium (http://www.studyenglishinflorida.org.), these schools are committed to ensure that students receive the highest quality intensive English instruction from trained, professional teachers.

FLORIDA, USA. If you want to study English in the United States, you might want to consider an accredited intensive English program taught at a state university in Florida.

More than 75,000 students from 70 countries have studied English at one of eight Florida state universities since 1993. They offer international students accredited intensive English Language Programs, which are taught by instructors with professional degrees. They are:

  • University of Florida in Gainesville
  • University of North Florida in Jacksonville
  • Florida State University in Tallahassee
  • University of West Florida in Pensacola
  • University of Central Florida in Orlando
  • University of South Florida in Tampa
  • Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton
  • Florida International University in Miami

These eight universities are members of the Florida Intensive English Consortium (FIEC), which was founded in 1993 to advance professional standards and quality instruction. They are committed to ensure that students receive the highest quality intensive English instruction from trained, professional teachers.

Why choose a state university program in Florida? Students cite several reasons, including:

  • Florida is known worldwide for its tropical climate, sandy beaches and blue ocean waters.
  • Florida offers exciting cities, universities, events and attractions, including Disney World, Busch Gardens, as wel as major college and professional sports teams.
  • Florida is a great place to experience American culture, meet new people and learn to speak English.
  • Each state university program offers high standards of excellence in innovative curriculum design, teaching, professional development, and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Each school offers small classes that ensure maximum participation, interaction and learning – and that prepare students for the real world.
  • Students receive total instruction to develop all their English Language skills: listening, grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, conversation, and understanding of American life and culture.
  • Students can choose from beginning or advanced, full-time or part-time, academic, business or vocationally-oriented programs, as well as programs for working professionals who need to upgrade their positions back home or professionals who need to obtain their licenses to practice in the United States.
  • All students who enter these programs are tested to ensure that they are placed in classes at the right level for their language ability.
  • Instructors are experienced professionals who have earned professional degrees and employ proven education methods at up-to-date learning facilities.
  • Programs are affordable and designed to provide the maximum learning for the student's investment.
  • Each program provides the opportunity for fun and additional learning outside the classroom through interesting field trips and social activities.
  • Each program issues certificates of completion at the end of every course to each student, indicating the type of program in which the student was enrolled and notice of satisfactory completion of all program requirements.
