The product is manufactured and distributed out of its Mount Pleasant headquarters. The Company provides pet owners and animal lovers with a means of safeguarding against unnecessary pet-panic in the water or death due to drowning.
According to the products inventor and Partner, Tom Davis, "Every year over 5,000 pets needlessly drown in swimming pools and walled lakes. This doesn't even include the millions of other creatures-raccoons, possums, squirrels, mice and even frogs, etc-that suffered the same fate. With Skamper-Ramp we hope to provide animal owners with some well-deserved peace of mind."
Skamper-Ramp is the result of five years of research and development. Materials were tested to maximize long-term durability, strength-to-weight ratios, chemical- and UV-resistance and cost effectiveness. Ultimately, a plain white, box-corrugated, recyclable, unbreakable polypropylene was chosen. White, because all living things can see it (many can not see colors or patterns), and corrugated plastic to maintain a strong, but lightweight form.
Jay Waddell, Managing Partner for Skamper Industries, continued, "Skamper-Ramp is most commonly sold for use in pools, to assist pets and animals in returning to land. The ramp can also easily be attached to boats, walled ponds, or docks. Because it is so portable, some customers also use it as an indoor ramp to aid small and/or arthritic animals getting onto or off of furniture, although we dont promote that."
Skamper-Ramp® is for pets up to 45 pounds and the Skamper-Ramp Big Dog version is recommended for animals up to 90 pounds or for use on boats and docks.
