Tendo Appoints Chris Barr Senior Vice President of Editorial

CNET's founding editor in chief teams up with San Francisco's premier custom publisher.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 3, 2005 — Tendo Communications, a strategic custom publisher producing print and Web communication programs, today announced Chris Barr has been named the company's first senior vice president of editorial. In this position, Barr will lead Tendo's editorial team as it crafts innovative communication programs.

A skilled editor, writer, and strategist, Barr brings 20 years of print and Web publishing experience to Tendo. He is a pioneer in developing Internet content, with a talent for making complicated information understandable and engaging. His hiring demonstrates Tendo's dedication to strategic, creative thinking.

Chris is an accomplished figure in Web publishing, and we are fortunate to have him join Tendo," says Karla Spormann, Tendo president and co-founder. His proven track record of thought leadership, business acumen, and Web marketing know-how adds even greater depth to our talented team."

Prior to joining Tendo, Barr was the founding editor in chief of CNET. He shaped CNET's content strategy and hired an award-winning staff of editors, reporters, and producers. Under Barr's editorial leadership, CNET garnered the industry's highest honors, including a Webby Award for Best News Site."

Before joining CNET, Barr honed his editorial skills at Ziff Davis. In 1987 he joined PC World to create the publication's first online service, PC MagNet. In 1990, Barr became West Coast editor for the magazine; he was named executive editor of reviews and testing for PC World in 1994. Like Tendo, he has found success in a variety of communication channels.

Today companies harness the power of multiple communication channels to engage an audience," says Barr. At Tendo they've used them all—from rich media such as audio and video to the latest Web technologies (such as blogs) to the gold standards of print. I look forward to helping Tendo's clients reach their target audiences."

Barr co-authored the book "Lightspeed Business." His extensive experience makes him a sought-after public speaker.
