In 1978 Teekamp discovered hidden faces in the art of Paul Gauguin that no other art historians or critics had ever noticed. As he continued to research Gauguin, amazing parallels emerged, connecting Teekamp with the controversial French artist. From the city of St. Cloud where both artists began to paint seriously (Gauguin in St. Cloud, France and Teekamp in St. Cloud, Minn.), to the faces he found in Gauguin's art, the discoveries and similarities are astonishing; from the books falling off shelves with pages opened to Gauguin to the original charcoal drawing he discovered last year, as well as the simple irony that both artists look strikingly alike, Teekamp's life has been filled with far too many parallels to write off as mere coincidence.

Teekamp completed the summary to his biography and posted it on his Web site in 1998. In 2003 he discovered and purchased a 100-year-old original Paul Gauguin charcoal drawing.

In this case of amazing synchronicity, Teekamp says auctioning off the evidence is the only way to prove his "truth-is-stranger-than-fiction" story. He has decided to put the original drawing up for auction, along with 210 of his own paintings, 250 of his drawings and a copy of his unpublished biography, "Reincarnation for Dummees," as a way to add evidence for his story.

Also included in the 5,500-piece auction: Teekamp and co-author Michelle Moshay's 110-piece research library including 55 books, rare exhibition catalogs and videos specifically on Gauguin dating back to 1921 and 55 additional books used in the research for Teekamp's biography, "Reincarnation for Dummees." In addition, the auction will feature 5,000 signed limited edition Teekamp prints and will include 50 percent future net book royalties for the next five years to the successful bidder for his yet-to-be published true life story.

Formerly titled Pass It On, Art HIS-story," the new name "Reincarnation for Dummees" came as a result of Teekamp's drawing discovery last year; both he and Moshay realized the extraordinary true story had became even more extraordinary. Teekamp decided that auctioning the entire collection was the only way to put the evidence out there for public scrutiny. The evidence, the pair says, outlines one of the most astonishing cases of reincarnation ever documented.

When asked how he felt about parting with his collection, Teekamp said, There comes a time when you have to let go of your past, be in the present and move on. I am 55, the same age as Paul when he left the earth, sick, poor and unknown. His dream was to hold a successful auction. My dream is to get this story told so I can get on with being Peter Teekamp. I didn't create my story; I simply wrote it all down and painted it for last 35 years. The auction is the only way to get open investigation."

The 10-day auction will be on eBay. For more information about the auction, please visit Paul Gauguin charcoal drawing." For more information about Peter Teekamp, Paul Gauguin or "Reincarnation for Dummees," please visit www.peterteekamp.com.
