INSYSTEK Joins the BSA's Fight Against Software Piracy

IT management solution provider INSYSTEK joins the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in South Africa to elevate software piracy awareness and provide IT tools to help combat the issue.

(PRWEB) May 12, 2005 -- In support of efforts to reduce local piracy rates INSYSTEK, an IT management solutions provider, has become an associate member of the Business Software Alliance (BSA) in South Africa.

The company provides solutions that enable organizations to determine their software licensing status, track software usage, distribute software and assist with change management. The company is presently represented in South Africa by LANware, a distribution organization in Cape Town.

By joining the BSA, INSYSTEK can work directly with its customers to support the alliances efforts to foster respect for intellectual property (IP); communicate the importance of a safe and legal working environment; and increase appreciation of software as a fundamental business asset.

"We believe that every software company is negatively impacted by software piracy – directly or indirectly – and we want to do our part to raise the level of awareness of licensing and compliance issues as part of our relationship with BSA," said Alex Turner, CEO of INSYSTEK.

"South Africa's piracy rate currently stands at 36% representing just over R950 million in lost revenue to the economy. We are actively encouraging more software vendors to become local members of the BSA to increase the impact we have on piracy and issues such as IP policies and legislation," said Stephan le Roux, chairman of the BSA.

"It is a positive step that INSYSTEK, a company which focuses on software asset management and distribution solutions, has chosen to join the BSA."

To assist with the elimination of illegal software usage, piracy activities can be reported by visiting www.bsa.co.za or calling the tollfree hotline number 0800 110 447
