Diogenes Analytical Labs Announces Availability of Disk-to-Disk Buyers Guide

Guide simplifies analysis and buying process of Disk-to-Disk solutions

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) May 17, 2005 -- Diogenes Analytical Laboratories announces availability of its critically-acclaimed, comprehensive Disk-to-Disk (D2D) buyers guides covering enterprise-class and midrange products from ADIC, Alacritus, Data Domain, Diligent, EMC, Neartek, and Overland Storage. These guides represent months of hands-on testing from an IT buyers perspective. The guides are available at www.diogeneslab.com, where a free sample may be viewed.

The in-depth and detailed reviews in Diogenes product reports allows IT consumers to gain invaluable insight without having to incur the expense of bringing those products for in-house testing," said CenterPost Communications CEO, Kate Edwards. We benefit from Diogenes' thorough research which allows us to focus on making buying decisions quicker and easier."

Diogenes unique value proposition is to offer truly objective, hand-on testing of new products; these in-depth reports offer significant benefits to buyers and IT vendors alike. Diogenes products include in-depth product reviews, vendor negotiation assistance and competitive bake-offs" between vendors.

As opposed to traditional guides that simply compare product specifications, Diogenes D2D buyers guides delve into the product and objectively compare features and functions. Its the kind of testing that IT organizations would love to do, but dont have the time." explained Diogenes founder and president, Phil Goodwin. Importantly, the evaluations are entirely unbiased. There was no vendor funding whatsoever. Our objective is to give IT organizations all the information they need to make an informed decision."

Diogenes Phil Goodwin and Jeff Wells will be a featured speakers at the upcoming Storage Decisions in Chicago, IL., on May 25th and 26th in a Disk-to-Disk Product Shoot out" sponsored by Tech Target.

Founded by industry veterans from research firms, customers, and vendors, Diogenes was created to address the gap left by existing contemporary firms that claim to provide these services but lack the ability to be truly objective since their reports tend to be based on vendor marketing collateral versus in-depth, hands-on experience.

Who was Diogenes?
Many people ask about the name Diogenes," where it comes from and why the company chose to use it. Diogenes of Sinope was a Greek philosopher who lived in the 4th century B.C.E.; he was not a mythic figure as some people assume. Although a contemporary of Aristotle, Plato and Socrates, he did not subscribe to these more famous schools of philosophy. Instead, he was known as a Cynic" philosopher. Cynic philosophy was not a true school of philosophy and looked askance at traditional philosophy, believing that learning was not reserved for the enlightened few. Rather, Cynics believed that the common man was capable of learning all that was necessary. Cynics further differed from the formal schools by emphasizing practical, rather than theoretical, philosophy. Moreover, Cynics taught self-reliance and fostered a certain against-the-grain attitude that did not always endear them to mainstream society. The story of Diogenes is often associated with his search through Grecian streets and alleyways carrying a lantern looking for an honest man." The people of Diogenes Analytical Laboratories, Inc. believe this legend characterizes their own philosophy quite nicely.
