Aspiring Designer Puts Her Dreams Online

Wevly Wilson, an aspiring designer, uses the Internet to raise funds for her education and illustrate the importance of following one's dream.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 11, 2005 -- Since the age of 11, Wevly Wilson has wanted to be a shoe designer, and now, a couple of degrees and a career later, she is finally poised to achieve her dream. Wilson is using a Web site not only to raise funds for design school but also to inspire other people to follow their hearts.

"At one point, I had to forego my fashion dreams to enter health care, and while that was a great career, it was personally unfulfilling," says Wilson. "Now I have been accepted into the Parsons School of Design in Fall 2005 and the London School of Fashion (Cordwainers) in the UK, where Jimmy Choo, the famous shoe designer, studied."

When Wilson realized that her finances would not allow her to pay for the cost of her one-year program – $45,000 – she set to work raising the money in an innovative manner. Her web site (http://wevlysdream.websiteanimal.com/) is her means of raising the funds by asking people to make nominal $5 online contributions.

As proof of her sincerity, Wilson's Web site features screen grabs of her acceptance letters from Parsons and Cordwainer's as well as photos of her design work. An online diary tracks her progress towards her goal. The latest diary entry reads: "I have decided to attend Parsons in New York City in the Fall. I am also planning to attend summer school in Italy in July, if I can pull that off."

But her Web site is much more than a method of financing her education. Wilson believes and hopes that other people with unfulfilled aspirations will take heart from her efforts and begin to pursue their own dreams. "In today's world, there are always methods and ways to find out what you want to do and then do it," says Wilson. "My Web site is an example of that, and I hope it will inspire other people to achieve their own goals."
