New Release So Hot, Burnt Roof Off Recording Studio

For rock band Greyscale, its been a rocky road leading to the national release of their first full-length album. Discord for the Dead Kid," out May 3rd, has been two years in the making, delayed by a few unbelievable twists of fate.

(PRWEB) May 21, 2005 -- For rock band Greyscale, its been a rocky road leading to the national release of their first full-length album. Discord for the Dead Kid," out May 3rd, has been two years in the making, delayed by a few unbelievable twists of fate.

Greyscales most memorable calamity was probably the fire that tore up the recording studio," says Craig Belis, President of Greyscales label, Battle Born Records. Greyscale recorded Discord for the Dead Kid" at Sierra Sonics in Reno, Nev.

Belis still remembers the phone call he received that day, May 4, 2004. Do you know how hot this album is?" asked Trent Parker, recording engineer, when Belis answered the phone. So hot, the studios on fire." Belis laughed, thinking Parker was joking - then he heard sirens in the background.

Parker later told the band he was so caught up in the rough mixes, he hadnt noticed the building was on fire. A neighbor called 9-1-1 after smelling smoke and then seeing flames pouring from the third-floor windows. According to Larry Farr, Reno Fire Department division chief and fire marshal, an electric fan malfunction caused the blaze. Luckily, no one was injured, and Greyscales recordings were saved. When recalling the incident, Greyscales lead singer Kristian Raimo laughs, Eminem, Dr. Dre and Ozzy Osbourne all recorded at Sierra Sonics, but we set the place on fire."

Greyscale now hopes for better luck as they tour the country in support of their album -- and it looks like they may have finally put misfortune behind them. One week since the album release, Discord for the Dead Kid" has already sold out at many BestBuy and Tower Records locations across the country.

Greyscale (www.greyscale.tv), a hard rock band originally founded in Long Island, New York, in 2000, was signed to indie record label Battle Born Records (www.battlebornrecords.com) in 2003. Now based in Reno, Nev., Greyscale is currently touring nationally, detonating the national music scene with their explosive combination of break beat and melodic hardcore.
