The Biggest Entertainment Phenomenon to Hit the Bar Industry in Decades

The World Tavern Poker Tour Can Turn a Slow Night into a Full House

(PRWEB) June 4, 2005 -- For the last decade Tavern and Restaurant owners have been struggling to find a way to get people back out to their bars. Well The World Tavern Poker Tour has added a significant piece to that puzzle.

It all started at Woodys Tarheel Tavern on a slow Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, NC", said Mike Matsinger, founder of the WTPT. The dozen or so people there all had their eyes glued to ESPN and The World Series Of Poker. We should host a no buy in poker tournament" Mike said, I bet this place will be packed".

And it was! On the very first night there were more than 75 people waiting in line to sign up for the tournament, and the rest is history.

The World Tavern Poker Tour is one of the largest poker leagues in the country with nearly 150 venues and over 15,000 players! Its been unbelievable" added Matsinger, the players have so much fun and the bars are making a significant amount of money".

The World Tavern Poker Tour is quite different from other poker leagues in that they do not require you to hire their staff to run the tournaments.

Its very difficult to make any money when you are doing $600 in business on your poker night, and $300 of it is going to pay the person running it" said Matsinger. Running a poker tournament is very easy if all the systems are in place, and that is what we provide to our taverns"

Most other poker leagues charge anywhere from $200-$500/night to run the tournaments, whereas the WTPT teaches the taverns how to host tournaments themselves, and provides them all the tools to ensure their success.

Our mission was to create a league that was as simple and as profitable for the Tavern as possible, and thats exactly what we have accomplished. We provide online tournament schedules, online player registration, seat assignments, automated scoring and ranking, and so much more" added Matsinger.

So How Do You Choose The Right League To Join?

"Ask questions" responded Matsinger. "How many venues do they have (or are you their test market?) How many players? What type of marketing tools do they provide? What is the cost? Does it make sense? What other types of affiliations/prizes? Do they host regional championships? WSOP seats?. The last thing you want to do is join a league without any history...they may be out of business in a couple of months leaving you in the cold".

About The World Tavern Poker Tour:
