The historic Denver Truckers basketball club will be traveling to the Home Courts in Henderson, Nevada on June 17-19 to play the legendary Akron Wingfoots in the 2005 SEAMCO NABL Desert Challenge Cup.

(PRWEB) June 7, 2005 -- Home Courts in Henderson, Nebada will be the site when the Denver and Akron Wingfoots again meet. The Truckers defeated the Wingfoots 2 games to 1 in the SEAMCO NABL Portland Challenge Cup back in January, 2 games to 1. From that tournament, Denver forward Antoine Whelchel (Murray St) went on to play FIBA pro ball in Peru and forward Emile Sheperd (Seattle Pacific) went to the pros in Mexico while Wingfoots guard Will Brown (Texas &M Kingsville) went to the pros in Mexico, power forward Deon David (Chadron St.) went to the pros in the Dominican Republic, swingman Jamal Thomas (Angelo St) went pro in Poland, and center Heath Bailey (Angelo St) went pro in China.

Both teams will again feature outstanding recent college stars looking to get FIBA pro jobs overseas. Both the Denver Truckers and the Akron Wingfoots are historic mens elite club basketball teams.

The games will be played at Henderson Home Courts, a 100,000 square foot athletic facility located in Henderson, Nevada. The Home Courts complex is now the main home to NABL Tournaments. The NABL, founded in 1934, consists of the Akron Wingfoots, Denver Truckers, Philadelphia Tapers, Kansas City Steers, Cleveland Pipers, Hawaii Chiefs, Marathon Oilers, and Los Angeles Jets. All are historic basketball clubs. The July 17th game will be telecast by the TVS Television Network.

NABL teams play college teams from the USA, Mexico, and Canada; FIBA international teams; military teams; and other NABL teams. All play fundamental basketball in order to provide recent collegiate players of high character and world class talents an opportunity to be showcased for FIBA pro teams around the world.
