DWF, one of the largest regional law firms in the country, rolled out BigHand Digital Dictation Software to 404 users across its Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington offices as part of an ongoing IT development strategy led by IT Director Phil Whitehead. The firm took the opportunity to update its dictation system as it moved to a new open plan office in Manchester designed to reduce clutter, promote efficiency and enhance its overall service to clients.
DWF Partner Ian Slater stated:
ÂTape systems are an archaic way of managing dictation and we wanted the organizational flexibility that digital dictation workflow provides. It is still early days but there is no doubt that we are more efficient day-to-day, with reduced backlogs and a perceived smoothing of peaks and troughs.Â
ÂThe project has been simple and smooth so far, with detailed planning and an excellent support provision  I cannot speak highly enough of the BigHand team and the help which they continue to provide to us.Â
The DWF BigHand rollout follows a 55-user pilot of another digital dictation system. Among a number of differences the BigHand system was found to be more server efficient (critical for any multi site roll out) and offer more user friendly management reporting options. The firm also found BigHandÂs ongoing partnership with Visualfiles attractive as there was no option for integration with the competing system.
DWF has become one of the fastest growing law firms in the UK - described by legal 500 as going "from strength to strength". The firm comprises over 350 legal staff (including 63 partners) and a total staff of over 600 across its Liverpool, Manchester and Warrington offices.
