Maritime Domain Awareness Business Opportunities Focus on Implementation Phase That Cuts Across Several Mission Areas

Share Article

After a slow start, implementation of a program for information gathering, processing, evaluation, and dissemination known as Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) is now on the United States Coast GuardÂ?s (USCG) list of top priorities. By Presidential Directive, MDA is a key element in the nationÂ?s Homeland Security strategy, with the USCG and Navy sharing the responsibility.

Reports issued by Corcoran Associates outline: the terms and programs that define or support the major effort, first staffing highlights, similarities between the Maritime Transportation Safety Act of 2002 (effective 2004) and MDA, implications of realignment, and potential business opportunities to assist the USCG during the implementation phase.
