Movie Turns Ordinary Guy's Dot Com Buy, Into A Big Dot Com Boom

When Hamish Webb registered his personal domain Yesmanmovie.com for his Website development course, the last thing he expected was to be selling it on eBay along with a year of his life.

(PRWEB) June 16, 2005 -- When Hamish Webb registered his personal domain Yesmanmovie.com for his Website development course, the last thing he expected was to be selling it on eBay along with a year of his life.

"Initially when I purchased yesmanmovie.com and yesmanthemovie.com I thought it would be a good idea for my industry project, the final project of my Website development course. I still had a great interest in movies after working in a video store for seven years, which came to an abrupt end when I was held at gun point for the $76, which the till contained. This led me to find a new and safer career, in website development," Webb said.

"When Warner Bros. purchased yesmanmovie.net, I received several offers to buy my domains, offers of only a few thousand which did not really interest me as I had already spent $5500 on course fees, and completed half of the work. The 5th offer I got was for $2 million dollars, at first I thought it was a classmate having a joke. The email went at length to convince me to sell and had details in regards to media contracts, something I had not even thought of."

He continues, "The sale fell through, however the idea of media contracts and publicity stuck in my head. No one can put a price on this type of advertising and with domain names like these, it is worth millions. So that is what leads me to advertising the domains along with 'a year of my life' on eBay."

I have to ask you Hamish why is the starting bid not $2 million if you have already been offered that much?

"I simply don't have the guts to ask that much for it. I know that I would have to take the starting bid and that it would change our family's lives so much."
