Cultural Evolution: The Business of Saving the World - Day Seminar with Andrew Cohen & Don Beck in NYC

Spiritual teacher and founder of What Is Enlightenment? magazine Andrew Cohen joins Geopolitical activist and Spiral Wizard" Don Beck in NYC to speak about authentic leadership and the science of changing the world

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2005 -- Many of the worlds greatest leaders have said, in some form or another: If you want to change the world, you have to start with yourself. But just how do we change ourselves to transform the world? Spiritual teacher Andrew Cohen and internationally renowned geopolitical consultant Dr. Don Beck will be inquiring into these and other life-changing questions, Saturday, June 25, at The Lighthouse, 111 East 59th Street. The seminar, titled A Perspective That Changes Everything" is part of the Voices from the Edge speakers series sponsored by What Is Enlightenment? magazine.

Don Beck and Andrew Cohen are two visionaries deeply concerned about the state of the world, and passionately interested in change. They have each pioneered distinct and original frameworks for personal and social transformation.

Cohen is a spiritual teacher and founder of the award-winning magazine, What Is Enlightenment? He travels the world leading seminars and retreats for transformative philosophical inquiry and meeting with thought leaders in business, science, politics, and religion. In response to the unique spiritual demands of our rapidly changing world, Cohen has created a contemporary and original teaching which he calls Evolutionary Enlightenment. This nonsectarian spiritual path represents a new moral, ethical, and philosophical framework for our time.

Beck is a global activist and authority on Spiral Dynamics, an analytical and practical theory for understanding cultural development and social systems. Often referred to as the theory that explains everything," it unveils the dynamic and often hidden forces that shape human nature, create global diversities, and drive social change. And Dr. Beck is arguably the worlds leading Spiral expert.

Beck's consulting career has taken him from corporate boardrooms to high-level government offices in England, Mexico, and Iraq, to the World Bank, and even to the National Football League. Most notably, he made 63 trips within 18 years to South Africa, where he tirelessly committed himself to helping catalyze the peaceful transition out of apartheid. Willing to risk his own safety to create open channels of communication across highly polarized racial divides, Beck conjured a vision of a future beyond apartheid that played a significant role in convincing the de Klerk government to release Nelson Mandela from prison. The book, The Crucible: Forging South Africa's Future (1991), chronicles his experiences there during this historic time.

Can we human beings make the radical shift necessary to save our planet and ourselves?" ask Cohen and Beck continuously in their work. Drawing on decades of their own experience catalyzing change in individuals, groups, and whole cultures, in this seminar they will transmit the profound shift of perspective necessary to creatively and sanely meet the future. The event will include in-depth discussions of both Spiral Dynamics and Evolutionary Enlightenment as well as question-and-answer sessions.

The seminar will be held Saturday, June 25, from 1pm-7:30pm at The Lighthouse, 111 East 59th at Lexington Ave. Tickets are available online at www.mktix.com (recommended) and at the door: $75 online; $80 at the door; $35 students with ID (includes refreshments).
